Sedation and General Anesthesia Services
When is Sedation or General Anesthesia Recommended?
Sedation and General Anesthesia may be recommended for a variety of reasons, including:
- Dental Anxiety: For children who experience dental anxiety or fear, sedation can help them relax and make the experience more comfortable.
- Extensive Dental Procedures: Some children may require multiple or complex dental treatments, which can be challenging to perform without sedation or anesthesia.
- Special Healthcare Needs: Children with certain medical conditions may benefit from sedation or general anesthesia to ensure their safety and comfort during dental procedures.
- Behavioral Issues: Children who have difficulty cooperating or sitting still during dental treatments can receive the care they need with the help of sedation.
- Young Age: Very young children, such as toddlers, may find it challenging to sit through dental treatments without sedation.
Sedation and General Anesthesia
General anesthesia or oral sedation may be indicated for children with extensive dental needs who are extremely uncooperative, fearful, or anxious or for the very young child or children with special needs who cannot cooperate for dental treatment in the dental office.
